Peonies are the flower people ask us for most, so we draw them more than once. Small Peony Wallpaper is a tight repeating floral that reads as texture from across a room, the right scale for a powder room, a hallway or a nursery wall you want to feel soft rather than busy. Peony Wallpaper is the mid-scale classic, eight colourways from beige and shell pink to mint blue and coral, and the one most people choose for a bedroom or dining room. Medium Peony Mural steps the blooms up so a single wall reads as a composition. Peony Flower Mural is the largest, oversized blooms across a five panel repeat, and our most popular mural for a bedroom or a girl's room that needs only one wall to feel finished.

Choosing a scale

Match the scale to the wall, not the room. A small repeat suits walls you see up close and walls with doors, windows or cabinets breaking them up. A mid-scale repeat suits a full bedroom or dining room where the pattern can run uninterrupted. A mural suits one feature wall, usually behind a bed, a sofa or a dining table, where you want the flowers to be the artwork. If you are between two, order the 24 by 24 inch sample of each. The 8 by 11 inch sample of the mural is printed scaled down to show more of the pattern, so the larger sample is the one that shows true size.

Vinyl, fabric or unpasted

Every peony design comes in all three materials, chosen at checkout. Fabric peel and stick is matte over a very fine micro weave, the easiest of the three to install, and the renter friendly choice. Vinyl peel and stick is smooth with a slightly satin sheen, the easiest to clean, and the stronger grip of the two peel and stick materials, which makes it the pick for bathrooms, kitchens and walls with light texture. Type II 20oz unpasted is the traditional heavyweight wallcovering on a non-woven backing, hung with paste, and what designers specify for commercial work. All three are commercial grade and Class A fire rated.

Before you order, check your paint. Peel and stick does not bond to Sherwin Williams ProMar 400 Zero VOC or to paints sold as stain resistant, anti stain or anti microbial unless the wall is primed with Roman Pro 935 R 35 first. If the wall was painted in the last 30 days, wait. Everything we make is made to order, so we cannot take returns for wall incompatibility, and a $5 sample on your own wall is the cheapest insurance there is.

Sizes, samples and how much to order

Rolls are 24 inches wide in 60, 96, 108 and 122 inch lengths, and custom sizes are available on request. Measure the papered height only, excluding base trim and crown moulding, then choose a roll 2 to 4 inches longer. For the repeating designs, divide the wall width by 24 and round up. For the murals, each roll is a numbered panel in the sequence, so use the roll calculator on the product page and order the exact panels you need rather than a spare. Samples are 8 by 11 inches for $5 or 24 by 24 inches, and orders usually ship in 1 to 3 business days.

Peony wall stickers and decals

If you want peonies without papering a wall, the same drawings exist as Peony Flower Wall Stickers, a set of six blooms and 22 leaves you arrange yourself, in ten colourways, plus a large set and a small set. They are removable and repositionable, and they are the usual answer for a nursery or a rental where a full wall is more than you want to commit to.

All four are our own drawings, printed to order on vinyl, fabric or Type II unpasted. Nothing is licensed or resold from another catalogue.

Does the mural pattern repeat?

Across, every five panels on 60, 96 and 108 inch rolls and every six on the 122 inch roll. It does not repeat vertically, so each roll length has its own artwork and 122 inch rolls will not match other lengths.
