Wallpaper Ideas for Bedrooms
Bedroom wallpaper can be used to create a dramatic accent wall behind a bed, add texture to an entire room, or introduce color and pattern into a calming space. Popular choices include floral wallpaper for a soft romantic feel, botanical wallpaper inspired by nature, and textured wallpaper that adds depth without overwhelming the room.

One Wall or Four
The first bedroom decision is not the pattern but how much of it. A single papered wall behind the bed is the most common answer and the safest: the headboard wall is the one you see from the door and never from the bed, so it can carry a stronger pattern than you would sleep facing. Four walls in a small repeat turns the room into a cocoon and suits the quiet patterns, the textures and the small florals. The ceiling is the third option, with a cloud or star pattern overhead. Whichever you choose, a bedroom is a room for a calm pattern and a warm colour, and the pieces here were picked with that in mind.
What Is in This Collection
Florals and botanicals for the headboard wall: earthy botanics, branch birds, branch flower two-tone, peony and small peony, rose, geo flowers, diamond flower, flower land in light and dark, monochromatic floral, pastel petals, the tree with birds and the birch tree. Damasks in four versions, from the classic white to the weave-textured look. Geometrics that read as texture: herringbone line and solid, links, large crosshatch grid, modern trellis in pastel and bold, chevron bold and chevron wood, Moroccan small pattern, wave, dot and small polka dots, organic painted lines. Textures like worn Persian sediment, grey cement brick and classic architecture. And for a child's or teen's bedroom, the fairytale forest with moon and stars, the illustrated evergreen forest, clouds, phases of the moon, fox, airplanes, lemons, cherries and zebra print.
Material for a Bedroom
Fabric peel and stick is the bedroom default: matte, soft under light, the easiest to hang, and the one that comes off a rental wall without a trace. Vinyl peel and stick is the stronger grip for a wall with slight texture. Traditional unpasted is for a whole-room, long-term hang by an installer. All three are commercial grade for durability and Class A fire rated, and every pattern is available in all three. Rolls are 24 inches wide in 60, 96, 108 and 122 inch lengths. The calculator on each product page gives the roll count for the wall.
Getting It Right
Order the 24 x 24 inch sample and tape it behind the bed, then look at it at night with the lamps on: bedroom wallpaper is seen mostly in evening light, and a colour that is fresh at noon can go grey at nine. Pull the bed out and install the headboard wall first, starting from the centre so the pattern is symmetrical around the bed. Wait thirty days after painting. Made to order in our Ramsey, New Jersey studio and usually shipped in one to three business days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Dark wallpaper in a bedroom: yes or no?
On the headboard wall, yes. It gives the room depth and you never face it from the bed. On four walls, only in a large room with good windows.
Can I wallpaper behind a bed I cannot move?
Yes, but it is a two-person job. Paper down to just below the headboard line and stop. Nobody will ever see behind the bed.
Is peel and stick wallpaper safe for a child's bedroom?
Yes. Both peel and stick materials are commercial grade for durability and Class A fire rated, and they contain no paste or solvent.
What about the ceiling?
Vinyl peel and stick works on ceilings. See the ceiling wallpaper page for the patterns we cut for it.
