Choose the right material, measure your wall, and work out how many rolls you need.

Every design is available in three materials. They look and install differently, so choose based on your wall and your situation. Swatches are shown at 2× zoom.

Before you order, check two things.

1. Your paint. Peel and stick wallpaper — fabric or vinyl — is not compatible with Sherwin Williams ProMar 400 Zero VOC paints, or any paint marketed as Stain-Resistant, Anti-Stain, or Anti-microbial, unless you first prime the wall with Roman Pro-935 R-35 Primer.

2. How recently you painted. If the wall has been painted recently, wait 30 days before installing. Fresh paint needs to fully cure and finish outgassing — installing sooner risks adhesion problems.

Around 99% of peel-and-stick failures come down to wall texture or paint incompatibility, and because everything is made to order we can't accept returns for wall incompatibility. If you're unsure, send us a photo first.

Sizes

Samples — 8 × 11 inches, or 24 × 24 inches. Worth ordering before a full room: colours read differently under different lighting, and for large-scale designs the 24 × 24 inch sample shows the pattern at true scale.

Rolls — all 24 inches wide, in four lengths: 24 × 60, 24 × 96, 24 × 108 and 24 × 122 inches.

How many rolls do I need?

Measure your wall height — the papered area only. Do not include base trim, crown moulding, or anything below a chair rail.
Pick a roll 2 to 4 inches longer than that height. The excess is trimmed after installation.
Divide your wall width by 24 inches and round up. That's how many rolls you need.

Example 1 — standard wall

Wall: 132 inches wide × 93 inches high, excluding base trim.

132 ÷ 24 = 5.5, rounded up to 6 rolls. A 93 inch wall needs 95–97 inches of length, so the 24 × 96 inch roll is right. The extra hangs over the base trim and is trimmed off, along with 12 inches from the right edge.

Example 2 — wall above a chair rail

Wall: 108 inches wide × 55 inches high above the chair rail. You only paper the area above the rail — the wainscotting and base trim below it are not measured.

108 ÷ 24 = 4.5, rounded up to 5 rolls. A 55 inch wall needs 57–59 inches of length, so the 24 × 60 inch roll is right. The extra hangs over the chair rail and is trimmed off, along with 12 inches from the right edge.

Common questions

I just painted — how long should I wait before installing?

Wait 30 days. Fresh paint needs to fully cure and finish outgassing before wallpaper goes on. Installing sooner is one of the most common causes of adhesion failure.

Which material should I choose if I'm renting?

Fabric Peel & Stick. It removes without damaging paint, so you can put the wall back as you found it.

Which material works on a textured wall?

Fabric Peel & Stick works on all walls. Unpasted Traditional suits slightly textured walls. Vinyl Peel & Stick is best kept to smooth walls. The more texture a wall has, the less surface area the adhesive can grip — heavily textured or bumpy walls may need skim-coating first.

Which paints are not compatible?

Sherwin Williams ProMar 400 Zero VOC, and any paint marketed as Stain-Resistant, Anti-Stain or Anti-microbial. You can still use these walls if you first prime with Roman Pro-935 R-35 Primer.

Which material has the strongest adhesive?

Vinyl Peel & Stick has the highest tack of the three.

Do I measure the full floor-to-ceiling height?

No. Measure only the area you're papering. Exclude base trim, crown moulding, and anything below a chair rail.

What roll length should I order?

Measure the papered height of your wall, then choose a roll 2 to 4 inches longer. Trim the excess after installation.

Are these fire rated?

Yes. All three materials are Class A fire rated. Fabric Peel & Stick is also LEED certified, and Unpasted Traditional is Prop 65 compliant.

Can I use wallpaper in a bathroom or kitchen?

Yes. All three materials handle bathroom and kitchen humidity, and all are water resistant — they can be wiped down with water and a damp cloth. Test any chemical cleaner in an inconspicuous spot first.

Is wallpaper paste included with unpasted wallpaper?

No. Unpasted Traditional needs heavy-weight wallpaper paste, supplied separately.

Should I order an extra roll?

Yes. Every roll is printed to order and material lots vary very slightly over time, so a later top-up order may not match exactly. Order everything at once, plus one spare roll per project.
