A Mural Is Wallpaper for One Wall

The difference between a mural and a wallpaper is the repeat. Wallpaper repeats a pattern every few inches and goes on wall after wall. A mural is a single image printed across numbered panels, sized to one wall, so the peony is the size of a pillow, the mountain range runs the full width, and nothing repeats. It is the most dramatic thing we make and, because it is printed to your wall size, the most custom. Every mural here comes as vinyl peel and stick, fabric peel and stick, or traditional unpasted, and the peel and stick versions remove without damaging paint.

What Is in the Collection

Floral murals are the largest group: peonies at three scales, dark florals, watercolor flowers, wildflower and meadow scenes, hydrangeas, tiger lilies, a monochromatic floral for a quieter room. Landscapes and nature: mountain ranges, a horizon of peaks, a forest at night, morning fog, misty jungle, palm leaves, monstera, a swan lake, soaring birds. Textures and abstracts for walls that want depth rather than a picture: Venetian plaster, paint strokes, marble, reclaimed wood, whitewashed barn-wood planks, plywood, tie dye, ombre, entangled lines, mid-century shapes. Photographs of Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Eiffel Tower, an African safari. Line-art faces. And for children, a unicorn forest, kids' mountains, a safari illustration, space, and a wall of picture frames. The collection is split by subject, and floral, nature, scenery and photograph, surface and texture, abstract, kids and nursery murals each have their own page.

Ordering a Mural

Measure the wall width and height in inches, including anything the mural will run behind. Choose the mural size that is at least as large as the wall in both directions. The excess is trimmed at the edges after installation. Standard sizes are on each product page, and every mural can be printed to an exact custom size if you tell us the wall dimensions. The panels arrive numbered, installed left to right. For peel and stick, wait thirty days after painting and mark a plumb line for the first panel. For an image of your own, a family photograph or a piece of art, the custom mural product takes an upload and prints it the same way. Where Murals Work

Behind a bed, a sofa or a dining table, where one wall is seen head-on from across the room. A nursery's crib wall. A home office wall that appears on video calls. A stair landing or the end of a hallway. Powder rooms take a bold mural well because the wall is small and the effect is contained. Murals are less suited to walls broken up by doors and windows, where a repeating wallpaper flows more easily.

What if my wall is larger than the biggest size listed?

We print to custom sizes. Send the wall dimensions and we will quote it.

Do I need a professional installer?

Not for peel and stick. Two people and an afternoon is the usual job. The panels are numbered and each one can be lifted and repositioned as you go. Unpasted is a job for an installer or an experienced hand.

Can I see the image on my wall before I buy?

Order a sample: a printed section at full scale so you can judge colour and detail on your own wall.

Is a mural removable?

The fabric and vinyl peel and stick versions are removable. Fabric is the cleaner of the two on older paint. Unpasted is permanent.
